DJ Nujabes

This mix is a tribute to the producer, label owner, and DJ Jun Yamada (山田 淳) aka Jun Seba aka Nujabes. While many people know Nujabes for his the signature sound of his own productions, he was also a record store owner and DJ who mixed and shared other people's music. This mix explores that other side of Nujabes, who he was as a DJ.

One can hear the kind of music Nujabes enjoyed by listening to his DJ mix Ristorante Mixtape (2004), or Modal Soul Classics (2008) a compilation from his Hydeout Productions label featuring music that inspired him. Using those releases as inspiration, my mix combines Jun’s music, a few songs from the Ristorante Mixtape, and several of my own selections that might have appeared in Nujabes' record collection or live sets.
